APRILE IN Pu-téca: Crossings, Fugues, and Extradisciplinary Thinking
This event is part of APRILE IN Pu-téca, an exhibitory and performative program curated by Christian Taranto and Giovanni Ambrosio.
Incroci, Fughe, Pensieri Extradisciplinari is a cycle of three encounters that interweave literature, poetry, critical thought, and visual arts. Through readings, installations, and book presentations, the program explores the relationships between words and images, signs and bodies, memory and contemporary narratives.
Turmoil: A Sonic Exploration Beyond Boundaries
The inaugural concert of APRILE IN Pu-téca, titled Turmoil, brings together Joss Turnbull and Mario Gabola, two experimental musicians pushing the limits of sound through unconventional techniques and sonic improvisation. Hosted at Hubside in Borgo Casamale, this event is a deep dive into the intersection of experimental music, sound research, and radical performance.
The Artists
Joss Turnbull (@jossturnbull) – A Berlin-based percussionist specializing in the tombak, a Persian goblet drum. Turnbull transforms this traditional instrument using experimental techniques, fusing minimalism, rhythmic abstraction, and raw sonic textures to create immersive soundscapes.
Mario Gabola (@vianderecords) – A Naples-based saxophonist and sound researcher known for his extended techniques, DIY electronics, and radical improvisation. Gabola’s work integrates feedback loops, noise elements, and self-built sound systems, creating a deeply visceral auditory experience.
A Collaborative Cultural Event
This concert is part of a larger cultural initiative, supported by Pu-téca, Tramandars, Cans Beer Shop, Untitled Age, Black Spring Graphics Studio, and Amici del Casamale. The initiative seeks to foster experimental artistic expressions and interdisciplinary dialogues through sound, movement, and visual art.
Minimalist Design & Collaborative Aesthetics
The event’s visual identity follows a minimalist design approach, featuring a custom typography by Luigi Corlero (@luigi_corlero_design), ensuring a coherent and accessible aesthetic for all participating cultural actors.
