On the occasion of an interview to Palestinian researcher Layth Sbaihat on organic farming in Palestine, a visit to two sites around Jenin, West Bank.

From Le jeudi: the associative fabric in Palestine is very dense, however Canaan is a commercial company  and not an NGO. How operate this business and your research Center?” Layth Sbaihat: “We come from the Palestine Fair Trade Association, a cooperativefarmers who wanted to sell their products at fair prices. They needed companionship, so “Canaan Palestine” was established in 2004 to provide labels and sell the brand. There is also the “Land of Canaan” foundation, a group that serves as a lobby to defend interests of Palestinian farmers in USA. These three organizations required a research center, to answer to quality standards which are very students. As a research center, we are between farmers and products, we need to increase the quantity and product quality. If there is a request for a certain commodity and if the farmers Palestinians cannot achieve it with one hand biologically, we must help them do so. »
