Naples views: Monte di Dio, Cavone, via Tasso.
During the summer 2020, in a postpandemic situation, I got a commission from a Neapolitan restaurant in Paris to build up an archive of photographs to be published in social media campaigns. The brief was to highlight the intense relationship between the food in Paris and the city of Naples, as a symbol of never lost tastes of home cooking. To depict Naples is one of the most difficult photographic exercises one could face. One can very easily can slip on imagery, on picturesque. My idea was to avoid food depiction, instead I would have dove inside one of the most beautiful ancient building in Naples, following shadows form the childhood, silences, walls, tuff, windows and details, yellows and greys. Could I have ever forgot about this book written by my friend Luca Salza, Naples entre Baroque et lumières, about Thomas Jones, about the violence of images?
