Cado sempre dalle nuvole – Cantare Pasolini

Stage photography for the musical piece Cado sempre dalle nuvole – Cantare Pasolini, a project led by Mauro Gioia and directed by Francesco Saponaro, starring Italian actress Claudia Gerini. I have been documenting the piece’s creation process from November 2022 until the opening of the show, in January 2023. A set of staged portraits in Rome gave the official poster image. Cado sempre dalle nuvole – Cantare Pasolini is produced by Teatro di Napoli Teatro Nazionale Mercadante.

On the stage, as part of the dramaturgy conceived by stage director Francesco Saponaro, a set of photographs from my personal works are printed on huge format blu back papers.The songs by the Casarsa poet are stars of a galaxy that is in the corpus of Pasolini’s entire work like a predella to his altarpiece. More than author songs, they are Lieder blossomed from the incurable spleen of our contemporary Tiresias. Small stories in which the themes dearest to the corsair writer reverberate, to the filmmaker thirsting for reality, myth and poiesis, in which the desperate vitality of his verses is grafted to the playful attitude of the Friulian boy with a melancholy gaze.
