Instead of capturing images, Errante collected sounds amidst the festivities. These sounds, echoes of our shared experiences, were then presented to us in the deconsecrated church of the Ave Gratia Plena convent. Through his artistic interpretation, Errante invites us to experience these sounds in a new light, to see ourselves in a different way.
Our choice of venue, the deconsecrated Church of the Ave Gratia Plena convent on Via Salita San Michele, was no accident. We wanted to invite inhabitants of Ottaviano to rediscover this space, to question what lies within, and to learn its stories. The panels we installed narrate the history of the church and of San Michele.
Emanuele Errante, a composer and sound artist based in Baia, is renowned for his experimental music that spans ambient and Modern Classical genres. His minimalist approach allows him to create emotional and evocative soundscapes. His works, often integrating field recordings, are distinguished by their emotional depth and suggestive capacity. After a youth spent creating music on synthesisers, Errante transitioned to computer music in the early 2000s. In recent years, he has returned to a workflow based almost exclusively on hardware.
