Conza-Compsa: a double archaeological park
Conza della Campania was a town in the Ofanto river valley, razed to the ground by the 1980 earthquake. Today, it is the archaeological area of Compsa where, after the collapses, an amphitheatre and other buildings from Roman and pre-Roman times have emerged. The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Cielo, on the other hand, dates back to the 18th century and stands in what was once the ancient forum.
