Bridging my background in Portuguese studies with Italian cultural history, I conceived a tri‑voiced evening that paired Italy’s Festa della Liberazione (25 April 1945) with Portugal’s Revolução dos Cravos (25 Abril 1974).T he evening combined poetry readings, film excerpts and critical debate to explore how these dates resonate across Europe’s collective memory. I designed the featured poster to merge iconic archival pictures while evoking the textures of newsprint and 1970s street graphics.
The event was co‑organised with fellow lecturer Andrea Masetti and historian‑poet Prof. André Belo (Department of Portuguese Studies). Together we staged readings, live commentary and an image‑screening programme to explore how two apparently distant liberation dates reveal shared cultural routes and political echoes across Europe.
Key screening: an excerpt from Capitães de Abril by director Maria de Medeiros—a film that profoundly shaped my studies and with whose author I had the privilege to collaborate in later professional projects.
