Happening Under Vesuvio is a recurring contemporary art event held twice a year at the Kulturfactory in Campania, Italy. Conceived by Alessia Siniscalchi, this multidisciplinary gathering invites artists to respond to the metaphorical implosion and explosion of both Earth and human beings—mirroring the volcanic force of Vesuvio itself..
Each edition is structured around curated thematic hashtags (#), which serve as conceptual anchors for artistic creation and collaboration. The project fosters dialogue on urgent contemporary issues: climate change, ecological transformation, technology, the fragile relationship between humans and nature, and the evolving role of art in society.
As a visual artist, I have been actively involved in of Happening Under Vesuvio 2023, contributing with Prophecies and pronouncements and pieces from Opus Incertum. My work engages with the core themes of the event, aiming to translate the volcanic metaphor into a visual language that captures tension, resilience, and transformation.
