Travelling in post pandemic cities in 2020 and 2021.

Venice, summer 2021, during Theatre Biennale

I am Italian, I have lived abroad, I always have refused to visit Venice. I think mostly because I have spent my first years at university reading Colors Magazine, and since then the issue on Venice is always on my bookshelf looking at me with its beautiful cover. But then I accepted an invitation to go to Venice, and it was the post pandemic era, during the Theatre Biennale festival. And then I have been confronted to the city photographing problem: what is the meaning and the purpose of city depiction? I think I have got an answer the day I arrived in Zattere, July the 10th: the gathering of the beaten generation of no global activists, in a blinding sunny day, in the space of the city emptied by the (post) pandemic.
