Conferenze cantate: Caruso, la prima pop star della storia
In his series of Conferenze Cantate lined up at Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome and at Teatro Trianon Viviani in Naples, written by Giuditta Borelli, Mauro Gioia himself, Antonio Pascale and Anita Pesce, Mauro Gioia tells about peculiar stories inside history of Neapolitan song, starting from his personal collection and archive of vintage vinyls (Fondo Gioia). This archive gives me the opportunity to work photography for performing arts as a contemporary documentary point of view on the city of Naples, which also have space in my personal documentary work. My pictures and videos are screened while Mauro Gioia tells about the dramatic escalation of events leading to the premature death of world known Neapolitan singer Enrico Caruso. For Caruso, la prima pop star della storia I have built up from scratch a vision of most iconic places in Caruso’s biography in Italy, the city of Sorrento and the city of Naples. Naples appears here in a blue peripheral mood marked by emptiness and stillness, far away from the classic full of vitality city.
