Raku ceramics by LeaF Lab

Leaf Art Lab is one of the most relevant artistic experiences in the ancient volcanic area of Campi Flegrei, outside Naples. Born from the ashes of ALAM, it combines the 30 years experience of famous raku ceramic and land-art artist Davide Carnevale with the enthusiasm of two young Neapolitan ceramic artists: Selvaggia and Atlantide. Raku ceramic is a very old Japanese technique, implying the use of fire to create very unique and unexpected color effects. Ceramic pieces are fired at 920° and while still hot they are reduced with paper and leaves in order to obtain special results like craquelé or iridescence. Most of these reactions are not completely foreseeable and very far from an idea of perfection, connecting this art to zen culture and wabi-sabi aestethic.
