Freiburg-im-Breisgau

In 2009, during the electoral campaign for European Parliament election, famous french photographer Yann-Arthus Bertrand, who was quite involved in the campaign, used to talk about the german city Freiburg-im-Breisgau as the ultimate model of new sustainable city, especially beacause of some new districts as Rieselfeld, founded in 1992. A case study of successful, sustainable urban development, as written by city’s official documents. I was very impressed by Bertrands’ communication about Freiburg. Due to personal reasons I used to spend lot of time in this city claimed as the future of European urbanism, and later, in 2010, I had the chance to spend the whole year in Freiburg. So I decided to catch the opportunity to take pictures that YAB could not take, because of a lack of time, I guess.
